Over the New Year holiday I had plenty of time to study. I’ve now learned the English meaning of 1000 漢字. Because I understand more characters, I can understand a lot more of the words around me: advertisements, restaurants, street signs, etc.
Also, I am able to guess the reading of many kanji because I know the meaning of the word in English and know the Japanese translation. I’ve stopped learning new kanji until I go back and review all 1000. Then I’ll learn the rest of them.
I’m very happy with this study system.
